Eternia and MoSS 's album "At Last" is not out yet, but "E" has decided to drop a nice mixtape mixed by DJ Law. I'm sure all of you have already been jamming the "Foul Child" track on heavy rotation anticipating this mixtape. So without any further ado, I give you "Get Caught Up". These are not ‘pop’ songs. These are not video singles. These are not Top 10 hits.

This is the heart and soul of why I do what I do when I do it. This is a personal offering. It’s my huge THANK YOU to all of the people who have supported the Eternia & MoSS: “ROAD TO RELEASE” video episodes online over the last 6 months. I hand-picked these songs from the past decade, b/c I felt they are overlooked, they are the most personal to my life, and they reveal my growth as an artist.

02. Dynomite (2005)
Australia’s my 2nd home. I tracked this w/ my boy Alex (Fame) in Sydney. This verse feels raw; I can hear in my voice, when I listen now, that I was ready to call it quits.

03. Foul Child (2009) **
Produced by: Ant B aka Mr. Cincinatti
Ant is one of the most under-rated producers I know, esp in terms of versatility and a distinct sound. He produced “Do This Like Me” on The Setup, which was probably the most ‘commercially viable’ song I ever did (ha). “Foul Child” is a product of no-pressure music-making. It’s necessary to create music in that manner, to me. If you think for a second this is a song glorifying gun violence, you ain’t listenin’.

04. Stuck Up (2000)
Produced by: Apathy
I tracked this verse w/ Apathy & Celph Titled when Celph was working at Buds Distribution in NYC. We recorded it in the office in Hells Kitchen. I didn’t know what they were going to use the verse for; I just did it to do it. Years later Majik Most hit me up & asked if he could use it for his Stick Em remix. I was like, “cool”. When I heard the verse, years later tho, I was like: wow I sound so young and so ignorant (re: “false prophet steps on the stage and get sprayed”). @ the time it was written to be metaphorical but it doesn’t sound like that when I listen now. (LOL). We all grow.

05. Spring Fever (2003)

This beat is the reason why I asked Simahlak to produce 3 joints on “It’s Called Life”. DJ Killajewel approached me early 2003 & asked me to rock a verse for her “Misstape”. I remember recording this in Vancouver, in DJ Ariel’s basement, before I flew overseas to live in Australia for 5 months. Strong memory. Strong emotions at that time.

06. Real Frequency (2003)

Arcee from the Real Frequency show in Toronto came over to my apt around 2002. He brought beats for me to pick from to do a drop. I kept on picking beats that Saukrates had already picked & I’m thinking,“Sox has good taste!”. Anyways, Arcee was ppls w/ this cat named Jake One. I was clueless at the time. But I picked this unreleased beat for the Real Freqs drop, afterwards I heard Blackalicious & The Game rock the same beat. I had it first! (I think? LOL I’ma get Arcee in trouble ). The first verse is a tribute to some of the people that were integral to my formation as an emcee in the 90s.

07. God's Story (2004)

This song is the most personal song I have ever released. But I don’t think anybody ever caught it. I was a host on Project Bounce Radio in Toronto & I got asked to record an exclusive joint for their mixtape. PB was known for playin’ street records (Canada’s equivalent of Mobb Deep typa cats). I knew that if I was gonna be on the project, I had to record something that was relevant to that audience, but that would make ‘em think deeper. So I used the scripture: “Do not repay anyone evil for evil, for it is mine to avenge, sayeth the Lord” & I wrote about one of my own experiences w/ the ‘streets’ when I was homeless (in verse 2). Omar blessed the hook, he was a part of a group in T.O.: “The Show”, now he’s killin’ it solo as “Oh!”. His choir rendition at the end of this song still gives me goosebumps.

08. Perfection ft. Promise & Grimace Love (2004)
Produced by: Amir the Terrorist
The honesty & vulnerability of the MCs on this track really moves me. I didn’t really know Promise that well when he asked me to do this collab, but the beat & his verse were so dope it was an easy sell. Then Grimace Love (Monolith!) jumped on & killed it. And then I did my verse in one take. I was just speaking my heart, so it was easy.

09. Day in the Life ft. Tona & Maestro Fresh Wes (2008) **

We figured we might as well give y’all something from AT LAST This song actually sounds the least like the rest of the album. My flow, the beat, the tempo, feel, everything is pretty left field compared to the rest of the album. I love it for that reason. If you love it: great! If you don’t: you’ll still love AT LAST. Ha!

10. Victorious feat. G. Knight (2004)
Produced by: Mercilless
This is the first song I recorded with Toronto producer Mercilless, who Supreme (A-Alikes manager) introduced me to in 2004, when he was managing G-Knight. Mercilless is also one of the most under-rated producers I know, ‘cause he refuses to play the game. I love him for it. He went on to produce the two biggest video singles off my album Its Called Life: “Evidence” and “Love”. Don’t Sleep.

11. Destiny (2007) **
Produced by: Apathy
This was one of the first songs I ever tracked for the unreleased, in progress album: Eternia by Apathy. He gave me the green light to leak it, probably because it’s nothing like what we’ve got for the album now! Ha! I still love it. This is just straight spittin’.

12. On and On (2007)
Produced by: Mez
I feel like this was the most under-rated song on The Setup. Maybe it’s just me… its one of my personal faves on the project.. Mez works with J. Cole & many others now, he’s dope, he mixed a large portion of The Setup as well. Once again, this song means a lot to me because it’s very vulnerable and personal, yet still hopeful. That’s a running trend.

13. Balance (2004)
Produced by: Kenny “Bounce” Neal Jr.
I still get people askin’ me about this song on It’s Called Life that was “about two dudes”. Maaan, I guess my punchline wasn’t strong enough in this song. (LOL) This song was under-rated since it was the only ‘chilled out’ song on It’s Called Life, it gets lost in the shuffle. Kenny “Bounce” Neal Jr. produced this joint from scratch, no samples. He’s ridiculous. His father is the blues singer Kenny Neal, folks in Louisiana know what I’m talkin’ about. His whole family is dope. This is my favorite song ‘mix’ out of all my material, period. We mixed this in the studio that 50 Cent uses when he goes to T.O., Phase One.

14. Everything (2004)
Produced by: 9th Wonder
I met 9th Wonder after Cesar Comanche & I had already recorded “Up & Down”, which ended up bein’ Cesar’s lead 12” single (ABB Records). So, I walked up to 9th in Toronto at this jam, put out my hand & said something like, “Hi! I’m Eternia! I’m on a track with you!” (LOL). He ended up emailing me this beat a few days later. This song was my attempt at a lighthearted approach to serious stuff. It’s about… Everything. (*smiles*). U figure it out.

15. Herstory (2008) **
The story behind this track is crazy. I did this at my boy Collizhun’s fly studio in Red Hook, BK. The studio was all windows, and looked out directly on the water and the Statue of Liberty. It was breathtaking. So I tracked this verse for his project & left with this mp3 reference. A coupla weeks later the studio got cased out, cats ran in the spot & jacked EVERYTHING… including the HD that our separated track was on. So this is the last remnant of this joint, it doesn’t exist anymore. I just love it. It’s literally a history of my Hip Hop Journey from birth to present day. And the perfect note to leave on.
